Dr. Mark E. Tanchel is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Dr. Tanchel completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center and his medical residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. He is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, where he earned the Walter Dameshek Award for outstanding achievement in Internal Medicine and the Robert J. Fahey Award for excellence in physical diagnosis. He is also a summa cum laude graduate of Brandeis University.
Dr. Tanchel is affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center at Hackensack Meridian Health where has participated in teaching gastroenterology fellows from the UMDNJ Newark School of Medicine. Dr. Tanchel’s work has been published in peer-reviewed publications. He has been selected as a Top Doctor by NJ TopDocs, as well as a Top Doctor for the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly.

Dr. George N. Pavlou is a gastroenterologist at and President of Gastroenterology Associates of New Jersey (GANJ). He is dual board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
In addition to his position at GANJ, Dr. Pavlou was a clinical instructor at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies and a teaching attending at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ as well as on the Medical Board of St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 20 years.
