Dr. Joseph G. Shami is a gastroenterologist at Gastroenterology Associates of New Jersey (GANJ). He is dual board certified in internal medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Shami also performs the following speciality procedures High Resolution Esophageal Manometry, pH testing and Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication or TIF
In addition to his position at GANJ, Dr. Shami is a trustee at IPA. Director of the Esophageal Motility Lab. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the School of Health and Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ.
During some of his time with GANJ, Dr. Shami was also Emeritus Chief for the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, totaling 14 years overall in the position.
Dr. Shami completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. He also received his medical degree from the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy and a Bachelor of Science in biology from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, NJ.
