Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule an appointment?

Though calling our individual offices directly is the quickest way, we also offer appointment request forms through our website. After submitting a form, a team member from our central business office will be in touch with you to determine who you would like to see and available time slots. If your specific physician is not available, we have an excellent team of well-trained physicians who can see you throughout our multiple office locations.

Where are the GANJ offices located?

Our 22 office locations are spread throughout Passaic, Bergen, Essex and Morris Counties in northern New Jersey. We are fully equipped with a pathology lab in Rutherford as well as an in-house Billing department in Woodland Park. In addition, our physicians hold privileges at 10 hospitals and eight endoscopy centers.
Visit our Locations page for all of our office information.

Why do I need to need to schedule an office visit before a procedure?

The visit prior to scheduling your procedure is a consultation appointment. During your consultation appointment, your physician will go over your entire medical background including family history, current medications and risk factors for the procedure. Instructions—as well as any questions you may have before the procedure—will also be discussed.
This initial meeting between patient and physician is crucial to put you on your path to wellness both before and after your procedure.

What do I need with me the day of my first appointment?

Our staff will discuss this with you during your initial phone call, but please come prepared with your driver’s license, insurance card and your medical history from your primary care physician for your first appointment.

Do I need a referral before seeing a physician?

It’s best to review with your insurance company if you need a referral before you call for an appointment. If you still require assistance, our staff would be happy to help.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you cannot make your scheduled appointment, please get in touch with the office 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Failure to do so may result in a cancellation fee.

How do I prepare for my colonoscopy?

You can find general preparation instructions on our Patient Center page. Your physician will let you know if they have any additional instructions for you prior to your procedure.

Additional note: All offices require that you prepare to have a family member or friend drive you home the day of the procedure, as you will be groggy from the anesthesia.

Do I need precertification for outside services?

Many tests and procedures performed by our group require pre-authorization or precertification. At our Central Business Office (CBO), we have staff dedicated to assist you in this matter. We also advise that you get in contact with your insurance company and find out the plan requirements prior to receiving your procedure. This will ensure maximum benefits are applied.

How can I check my account balance?

Our in-house Billing department can be reached Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. by calling 973-785-2277. Any one of our representatives can provide you with your full account details as well as e-mail you receipts of payments. In addition, our newly-designed patient portal will also provide you with all your account details.
