Dr. John J. Farkas joined Gastroenterology Associates of New Jersey (GANJ) as a gastroenterologist and partner. Dr. Farkas is one of our founding fathers that helped form GANJ on January 1, 2009. Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Farkas specializes in all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology. He is also BLSI ACLS certified.
Prior to his position at GANJ, Dr. Farkas was in private medical practice in internal medicine for over 20 years and has held numerous prestigious positions at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital in Wayne, NJ. He has also held positions as sports medicine physician for both high school and semi-professional sports teams and was a clinical instructor for St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies.
In addition, Dr. Farkas was a teaching attending in gastroenterology and internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
Dr. Farkas completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and a residency at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies after attending Universidad del Noreste in Tampico, Mexico for two years and received his Bachelor of Pharmacy from Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ.
He is currently is a member of the SJP, SJW and IPA as well as a former member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. He has also been published in multiple medical journals throughout the course of his career.
